Profile
Ph.D in Agriculture from Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering, The University of Tokyo. My research topic is migration of radioactive cesium in soil environment. I studied on discharge of radioactive cesium from forest catchments caused by soil erosion and migration of radioactive cesium in the vertical direction of soil during rainfall event. In the incumbent, I’m engaged in the management of archived soil samples collected after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. Furthermore, I’m planning to research on radioactive micro particles such as Cs-bearing micro particle (CsMP) in the samples and newly collected sample.

Research Overview
I have been working on a migration of radioactive cesium (Cs) in the soil environment at different scales since undergraduate student. The research topic of the bachelor thesis was to evaluate a discharge of radioactive Cs from forest catchments caused by soil erosion. My focus after entering master course was the effect of dissolved organic matter on the migration of radioactive cesium in a weathered granite soil accompanying with water flow during the rainfall event. In the incumbent, I’m engaged in the management of archived soil samples collected after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. Furthermore, I’m planning to research on radioactive micro particles in the samples and newly collected sample.
A few words
Nearly 10 years have passed since the accident, but in the fields of media and research, I feel that interest in the damage caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, including radioactive contamination, has gradually declined compared to when the accident began. For the reconstruction of agriculture and rural areas in Fukushima prefecture, I will publish my research results in academic journals, and work hard to give back to society.Personal Interest
